Title A name given to the resource Annus fructificat 2017 Subject The topic of the resource Trekking Vaghe Stelle 2017 Description An account of the resource un gruppo in viaggio per la ricerca, fatta con i piedi, da Breganze a Marostica, passando per Fara, Salcedo, Lusiana, Conco, Molvena e Pianezze Nel saggio “Meteorologia applicata all’agricoltura” del 1775 l’abate e scienziato Giuseppe Toaldo, originario di Molvena e professore all’Università di Padova, riprende questo antico proverbio, tramandato dal filosofo e botanico Teofrasto (371- 287 a.C.), per dirci che “non tanto dalla terra, dai lavori, dagli ingrassi, dipende la felice vegetazione ed il successo dell’agricoltura; ma piuttosto dalla giusta temperatura delle stagioni, dalla costituzione dell’atmosfera, dal calore, dall’umidità, dalla distribuzione delle piogge…” Queste considerazioni ci sembrano quantomai attuali in quest’epoca, da alcuni definita “Antropocene”, segnata dalle attività dell’uomo tanto da trasformare la geologia del pianeta e la temperatura dell’atmosfera, con progressiva perdita di fertilità dei suoli e l’impatto tangibile dei cambiamenti climatici. All’epoca di Toaldo, senza l’occhio dei satelliti, era pressoché impossibile fare delle previsioni meteo, e più che gli scienziati erano i contadini a saper interpretare il microclima locale. Eppure, ci ricorda la studiosa Luisa Pigatto, le intuizioni e le osservazioni di Toaldo lo pongono alla base della moderna meteorologia. Anche se il nostro rapporto con le previsioni meteo è oggi in larga parte finalizzato all’organizzazione del tempo libero, ci sembra utile ricordare come la meteorologia nasca in realtà al servizio dell’agricoltura, e come il nostro Toaldo non abbia mai dimenticato le condizioni di vita e di lavoro dei contadini, dei suoi compaesani. Accanto allo scienziato ci accompagnerà la voce dello scrittore vicentino Virgilio Scapin, che sulle colline di Breganze ha ritrovato una sua arcadia fragile, e dall’amicizia con il vignaiolo Firmino Miotti ha tratto ispirazione per raccontarci quel mondo rurale e contadino che, negli anni ’60 e ‘70 del boom economico, diventava sempre più marginale.
